No Focus

Brain Booster #3

No Focus

Challenge: Focus your attention on nothing.

How long can you hold “nothing” in your mind’s eye? And when you do, is it really “nothing” or is it actually “something” that just represents “nothing?”

Is it difficult for you to focus on emptiness? What types of thoughts break your focus?

How This Boosts Your Brain

This challenge is a first step in helping your mind become aware of itself. Every mind is plagued by a persistent chorus of chaos, and calming this cacophony is a constant chore. In attempting this challenge, you may find that trying to clear the muddy waters by force only stirs them up. The trick is to let them settle.
