Sample Problem

If a camera case costs 50 and a camera costs10 more than the case, how much does it cost to buy both a camera and a camera case?

Let x be the cost of the camera case, and y be the cost of the camera.
Then y = 10 more than the camera case, or y = x +10 = 50 +10 = 60. Finally, to find the total cost of buying both; total = x + y =50 + 60 =110.
