Finding the Area of a Triangle

In this tutorial, I will be showing you how to find the area of a triangle.

Sample Problem

To get the area of a triangle, you multiply the base by the height, then multiple it by 1/2. In short, the formula is A = (1/2) x (base) x (height) OR A=(1/2)BH

Here is an example problem: If a triangle has a base of 3 and a height of 12, what is the area of that triangle?

The formula for the area of a triangle is A=(1/2)xBxH
The base and height are given to you in this problem, so all you have to do is plug the information given into the formula:

A=(1/2) x (3) x (12)

Solve for the area now:

36 x (1/2) = 18

You should get an answer of 18
