Point slope into slope Linear equation

Algebra 1 Tutorial

Point slope into slope Linear equation

Intro

This is gonna show how to go from a point slope to a slope intercept linear equation. This involves Algebra 1 level math

Sample Problem

y – 2 = m(x – 1)
y – 4 = m(x + 8)

Solution

Ex1: y – 2 = m(x – 1)
-2/-1 = 2 = m
y – 2 = 2(x – 1)
y – 2 = 2x – 2
y = 2x
Ex2: y – 4 = m(x + 8)
-4/8 = -1/2 = m
y – 4 = -1/2(x + 8)
y – 4 = -1/2x – 4
y = -1/2x
