## Algebra 1 Tutorial

*Solving Equations*

#### Sample Problem

#### Solution

An easy way to solve this would be to subtract 42 from 60, then divide that answer by 6 leaving you x = (the answer).

6x + 42 = 60 Our problem

6x + 42 – 42 = 60 – 42 Subtract 42 from both sides

6x = 18 Now we’re going to divide both sides by 6

6x/6 = 18/6 Make sure to cancel out your 6’s on the left side

x = 3 Your answer 🙂
