Sample Problem

Mary went the store on Sunday. She bought a few groceries for her daughter. Mary’s daughter was thankful for the food. She gave her mom a hug.

Her daughter was thankful for the food.


Mary bought a few groceries for her daughter.


Her daughter gave her mom a hug.


She gave Mary a hug.


She went to the store on Sunday.


Solution

It is already established that Mary got food for her daughter. Therefore, “Mary’s daughter” can be changed to “Her daughter”. This is an example of a pronoun replacing a noun.
