English Teacher, Homeschool Mom, Experienced With Learning Challenges
After a decade of teaching at the elementary, high school, and college levels, followed by homeschooling my three children from kindergarten through high school (one of whom has learning disabilities), I am looking forward to working with individuals in need of some extra help.
My strengths include tutoring English, teaching students with learning challenges, and working with homeschoolers. I am available to help a student struggling with verbs, deciphering a poem, writing an individual paper, or trying to survive a semester of Comp 101. I will work with students with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, and ADHD in any of their subject areas at all levels. I will also ease the burden of a homeschooling mom who needs help teaching a frustrating subject or a frustrated student.
I have been trained to teach struggling readers and those with dyslexia. For beginning readers ages 5-7, I teach Reading Readiness, and for ages 10 through high school, I teach Multisensory Reading and Spelling.
My formal education includes bachelor’s degrees in English secondary education and elementary education and a master’s degree in educational media.
