Writing Coach And General Academic
In 1990, I graduated first in my high school class in English and third overall, frequently tutoring underclassmen. I continued the concentration on the written word at Bowdoin College with a degree in English Literature. Following a move across country, I enrolled at San Diego State in their teacher certification program to teach high school English in the inner city. After deciding that writing and creativity were more important to me than a career teaching state mandated curriculum, I chose to leave education. I have continued writing and am currently looking to publish three books of poetry although my career steered towards hospitality. The flexibility of the industry allowed me to work full time and raise two children with a minimum of child care and this culminated in the launch of a hospitality training company that operated throughout New England. I instructed hundreds of mostly college age students in general hospitality skills and ServSafe requirements for several years. As my children grow a little bigger and more independent, I am looking to change career, possibly returning to education. I am widely available to tutor in a spectrum of subjects and creative writing and literary analysis remain my primary interests.
