Before graduating with a MA in Educational Policy and Leadership, I was an advisor for various departments at McDaniel College. I served as an advisor for the First Year Experience Team and the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies, the Office of Diversity and Multicultural Affairs, and The Student Academic Support Services. I assisted first year students, transfers, minorities, and students with disabilities by leading and coordinating orientation, recruitment, and retention activities. More specifically, I coordinated and led Open House, New Student Orientations, etc. In these initiatives, I performed one-on-one and small group advising sessions. As a Freshman Seminar Instructor, I have led student development in the classroom through advising seminars and activities on academic and community standards, studying and note-taking strategies, time-management, literacy remediation, research preparation and career readiness skills.
Additionally, I have also served as a preschool/pre-kindergarten teacher. In this position, I taught reading, writing, and language arts. Following this stint, I went on to teach writing. If given the opportunity, I hope to tutor students in writing.
