Reading And Writing
I am a 25 year old college student at St. Ambrose University working on my last semester for a BA in English Teacher Education. I have over 100 hours of experience tutoring and working with students from 2nd and 3rd grade, middle school, and high school. Outside of my formal experiences, I am the oldest four siblings, two of which are high school and middle school age. I have found that helping and supporting them in their academics in the past at home is equally as gratifying as helping students in the classroom.
I have also always enjoyed English content and material on a personal level. I believe the dynamic between a strong English foundation and all other subjects creates an interconnective pathway of access and success. Reading and writing are conducive to personal growth and achievement in and outside of the classroom; and outside of developing basic English fundamentals, this personal growth and confidence is something I hope to cultivate in my students. I want to guide students as they find their own interest in literature while in pursuit and development of their own individual voice. I aim to foster students' individual identity within the context of our complex and diverse society. This is in order for the student to achieve the most intellectually and emotionally from their literature and composition experiences so that their social and academic futures as critical consumers are empowered, productive, and most importantly, happy.
