I recently graduated from the University of Maryland College Park with a Bachelors degree in biology, and I plan on applying to medical school next year. Currently, I have chosen to take a gap year and would like to work part time, while I prepare to take the MCAT in February. I possess a sincere passion for mathematics, and my curiosity for the subject has always pushed me to take the highest level courses available. In sixth grade, Dr. Lynn Collins admitted me into a highly selective math program that only accepted a small number of the top math students in Howard County. This enabled me to complete Algebra II by the end of eighth grade and prepared me to take high level math courses in high school. I scored a 5 on both the Calculus A/B and Calculus B/C exams. Throughout taking these courses, I enjoyed the many challenges of trigonometry, matrices, polynomial function, logarithms, conic sections, derivatives, and integration. In college, I elected to major in biology in hopes to help other people by entering a medical profession, but my fondness for navigating intricate math problems never waned. Furthermore, my undergraduate degree bestowed me with a high level of competency in biology and chemistry.
In addition to my mathematical background, I have experience teaching students, as I spent three of my semesters at College Park mentoring local elementary school students. I also have over four years of experience coaching tennis. I am also capable of tutoring for the SAT's as I scored a 2100.
