Experienced Math And Language Instructor
I have 10+ years of tutoring experience in STEM and language, with students from many different backgrounds: adult, high-school, and middle-school students. I have worked with students as young as 5 — and as old as 65 — years old.
Falling into my love of math and foreign languages during college – honestly, never thought I’d major in these subjects! – I went on to live abroad in a francophone country and also to compete an M.S.E. in applied math/statistics.
As a tutor, I work to provide a non-judgemental space for learning, where students can ask questions, develop new skills, and reach for mastery. I do believe that all students – regardless of background or previous experiences – have the ability to succeed, with the right support, clear goals and a little grit! My teaching/tutoring philosophy is:
• help students learn at their own pace,
• personalize lessons to the student’s needs and make them as fun as possible, and
• approach a subject in multiple ways to strengthen learning.
My 3+ years of pedagogical training has focused on differentiating problem-based learning, supporting for English Language Learners, project-based learning, and designing courses. Also, because of my professional work, I enjoy connecting math and statistics to jobs in science, technology, business, and public policy.
I hope we get the chance to work together, and look forward to hearing from you soon!
