Chemistry, Physics & Math Instructor
A career teacher with 30 years of experience, I am looking to continue the work that I love, but with fewer hours - and little or no time in front of classrooms. My expertise is in helping students to make sense of physics, chemistry and math, by helping them to see how it works and how it applies to their world. I've also taught Earth Science and Pre-engineering, including a course in which students designed and built a very small house.
A hallmark of my teaching is the emphasis on (students) asking questions and getting to the bottom of why things are the way they are, instead of focusing on memorizing and applying rules. Tutoring, I think, is the real teaching; it's gratifying to help students overcome struggles. The extra effort and investment usually pay off with more lasting and useful learning.
