5 Years Of Experience; Math & Physics Tutor From Brown
I began tutoring almost 5 years ago as a high school student, and have never stopped loving this job. Any tutor will tell you how students need to understand there's not just one correct way to solve a given problem, but what sets apart a good tutor is understanding that there's not just one correct way to help a student either. Every student requires special assistance, and years of experience helping students with dozens of students has taught me that no two are ever the same, but I've learned how to find what method suits each student. From there, I work with the student to make sure they understand the material at its fundamentals in an intuitive way. I always ask *why* students use certain methods, not just how to get to the answer, then ensure they can independently understand and solve problems. In my work I strive to ensure the long-term success of the student, and to show them the motivating aspects of the material so they may find some excitement in Math and Physics topics that are often perceived as boring. I've brought many students from failing to As and Bs, and many successful students even higher to the top of their game. I look forward to helping you or your child next!
A little more about my background:
I graduated from Burrillville High School as Valedictorian and now study Mathematical Physics at Brown University. I have received awards for recognition in math and science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University of Rochester, and the Society of Women Engineers. In high school I ranked as a National Merit Scholar Semi-finalist, and I competed in the Rhode Island Math League during all four years of high school, repeatedly as a highest scorer. Since at Brown, I've taken graduate level physics courses, mentored and tutored students through various programs, and pursued research in Dark Matter, Computer Science Education, and Particle Physics (recently at CERN). I also have extensive classroom experience teaching Algebra, Computer Science, SAT prep, and Multivariable Calculus, all at the high school level.
I look forward to hearing from you, and would be honored to be able to help you or your child achieve long-term success in your/their academic career!
