Special Education Teacher Looking To Help You Succeed!
I have recently completed a Master's degree program with a major in Special Education with licensure for K-12 from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. I obtained my Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Southern Connecticut State University in May 2013.
My student teaching internship was in a cross categorical kindergarten classroom, which is a self contained classroom for students who have been identified with developmental delays. During my internship I have created diverse lesson plans that addressed students’ multiple IEP goals. Learning to connect with each of my students and helping them to discover their strengths in the classroom has been an eye opening experience and has shown me the importance of student interest in education. Working in such a small class setting also allowed me to utilize small group learning experiences such as math and literacy centers. Before I began student teaching, I taught preschool for two years in a Montessori setting. My experience with creating multi sensory activities and engaging the whole child has been an area of my teaching that I look forward to growing in the future.
