I am currently a student at Ohio Dominican finishing my undergraduate degree in Middle Childhood Education with a focus in English and Social Studies. I hope to go on to pursue a Masters Degree in Gifted Education.
I have spent the past eight years working as a martial arts instructor, which has helped me discover my passion for teaching and working with children. I have worked with students of all ages and of varying learning styles, helping them each to reach their own unique goals. This position has given me the opportunity to work with large groups as well as offer private sessions where I help students in a one on one setting. It has helped me learn to find different ways to communicate concepts, as well as how to find a balance that helps a student feel both challenged and rewarded.
My mother has been in the education field for 30 years, which has enabled me to help her in a classroom setting. She is currently a remedial reading teacher, which has given me the opportunity both to observe how she helps students with reading as well as help them myself.
I have a passion for learning, and especially for reading and history! I am very excited to build a career of sharing this passion and excitement with students, and would love to find opportunities to do so while I'm still in school.
