English Teacher With A Master's Degree In Creative Writing
My name is Michael Easton and I am an English teacher working in Ridgeland, SC. I teach grades 6-12 in an alternative school for at risk teens. I received my Bachelor's degree in English from Hartwick College in New York state. I also minored in theater arts and have a love for acting. I got my master of fine arts degree in creative writing from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.
In my classes at school I focus on teaching my students how to effectively write and stress that solid writing skills will help them in almost any career they choose after school. I teach them how to write creatively, using figurative language to create certain moods. I also teach them how to craft expository and persuasive essays, and how to support their thesis statement with textual evidence. Many students become overwhelmed or confused by writing, grammar, reading literature, and understanding why it is even important. I am confident that I will be able to help any student struggling in their English courses by working one on one with them in my tutoring sessions.
