Retired Scientist Teaching Basic Skills To Students
I am a retired environmental scientist who enjoys mentoring young aspiring professionals and students. I can help students with science, math and English as well as critical thinking and methods used for researching information. My training and experience was in the biological sciences. After university, I was involved in medical research studying the biochemical and physiological effects of drugs and alcohol. After a few years I moved into environmental research studying the effects of pollution in the environment and I worked with governments, industry, First Nations addressing environmental issues for 40 years. I have managed many projects; worked with many different people and written many papers and reports.
My two children are adults now but I spent many years tutoring them and coaching them in sports. I found that it is important to use a common sense approach and include things that they are interested in when working with elementary and high school students on academic problems. No matter what age, whether 7 or 77, everyone appreciates being treated with respect and kindness.
My personal schedule is flexible so I am generally able to meet students when it fits their schedule. Please contact me by email.
