Experienced English Teacher
Celebrating students as they achieve moments of success is why I became a teacher. My approach to teaching is- if I'm not having fun teaching then my students aren't having fun learning. I have high standards and expectations for myself as a learner and hope to show my students the value of embracing their lessons with enthusiasm and fortitude. Having my own children in various stages of their education has really helped me to understand how to "meet" each child's individual needs where they are most lacking.
I graduated from UNH in 1994 as an English teaching major with a Theater minor. In 1996 I finished my Masters degree after a year of working in a 7th grade classroom and then getting hired full time as a Junior and Senior English teacher at Coe-Brown Northwood Academy. I taught at CBNA until 2009 when I resigned to have my second and third children! Currently I am working as an adjunct professor at a community college teaching Public Speaking and Composition.
I enjoy working with students of all ages, abilities and will gladly take time to explore their learning styles and work to meet their needs. I am not limited to working with older children as I have spent the last eight years volunteering extensively during my children's elementary school years as a helper in their language arts curriculum.
I do look forward to meeting new families and students who could benefit from a little educational boost in English. I am also open to helping tutor with American History as I co-taught an American studies program for five years.
