Foreign Language, Writing, And SAT Prep Instructor
In my experience, knowledge is best attained through the active and creative participation of the student. A student learns material most effectively when they are expected to contribute something to the learning process.
In a traditional classroom with a lecture-style setting, a student does not have many opportunities to engage with the material being taught. In tutoring, I intend to invert this system and teach through a conversational approach, where the text or subject matter ceases to be simply a conglomeration of facts, but instead becomes a basis for a conversation through which I can teach and the student can learn.
I taught piano privately for four years in high school from the beginner to intermediate levels, maintaining up to eight students at a time. After high school graduation, I worked as a teaching assistant at a local community college for Arabic 102. While at Villanova University, I have worked as a tutor for the Center for Multicultural Affairs in Arabic and Spanish for the past two years.
