Writing And Reading Expert, SAT Prep, History, And High School STEM
As a gifted reader and writer with a broad knowledge of most subjects, I can make a significant difference by helping develop study skills and boost critical thinking and analysis--especially for essay-writing and SAT preparation.
While majoring in Philosophy, I also completed the University of Chicago's Common Core curriculum (comprised of courses in Physics, Biology, Calculus, Civilization Studies, Art History, the Humanities, and Social Science), so although I am more of a history and literature nerd at heart I will have no trouble revisiting any subject we need to work on. Additionally, I participated in several independent reading groups and many small classes where we essentially taught each other in college, so I am prepared to recommend and guide students through works that may be more difficult than what most high schools offer--a challenging experience that I believe does much more for the development of critical thinking and academic prowess as a whole than rote memorization or constant practice exams.
Having until recently lived and worked in a big city and attended an elite university, I can also provide some perspective based on my own life experience that others may not have available and students may find useful when considering college applications or where they plan on living after school.
